Photo Competition Winner !
We are delighted to annouce winner of the SCGB Cutiest Serama Photo competition is a photo of Fruitcake taken by
owner Jane Hughes. A delightful little chap and a worthy winner. look out for more members compeitions through the year
in the club newsletters. A Rosette is on it way to you Jane! here is Fruitcakes story :
This is a
photo of my little serama cockerel with his Poland chum taken last year shortly after I got him. I had never heard of
Seramas, but when I went to a game fair and having a look arround the chickens I saw a small box crammed with some little
feathered creatures. At the bottom of the pile I saw these two frightened little bundles, I felt sorry for them and bought
them from the man who I thought said they were a Polish and a serama or some such. Anyway when I got home and looked them
up on the internet and found out he was an unusual chicken. I decided to call him Fruitcake because he was the colour of cake
mix, and this is him sitting together with his friend Eddie Izzard as they always liked to do. Sadly I lost little Fruitcake
but in his short life he charmed all my friends and visiters and had his own little fan club. Jane.

National Show & Club AGM 29/30 November 08
The Prestigious National Show at Stonleigh was the setting for our first AGM as a Poultry Club Of Great
Britain Affiliated club-and our first show as a breed with an offically recognised standard. This is the first time the
Serama has gained offical poultry fancy recognition of a formal offical standard anywhere in the world so a truelly historic
event and we are very grateful to the PCGB for their help, support and faith in us and the Serama bantam.
A number of high quality serama were in competition and were kindly judged By Mr Mike Hatcher.
later Trophies were presented by Mr Kevin Bacon (origonal importer/breeder of Serama from Malaysia and USA) to Champion and
Reserve Champion Serama.
The AGM was well supported and a number of points to move the breed forward were discussed.
We were granted a Club Stand by the National Show organisers and that proved very popular both with serama
breeders and other breed exhibitors with lots of new members joining there and then. A small selection of club merchendise
was made available which likewise proved very popular.
